Annual Conference & Exhibit: More than Workshops
When attending a conference, most people expect to sit in workshops and hear general session speakers. But the League’s 2010 Annual Conference & Exhibit offers so much more than just workshops. Take advantage of these networking and out-of-the-classroom learning opportunities:
Service Event: Cities often collaborate to help one another. This Wednesday morning event it just another way for cities and officials to reach out and work together.
Networking Best Ball Tournament: Although this event isn’t included in the conference registration fee, many officials and exhibitors find it’s a great way to meet people.
Run/Walk: Thursday morning, wake up and take in the scenery along the trails in Coralville and Iowa City, including their new pedestrian bridge.
President’s Reception: Join your colleagues in thanking the outgoing board president, Dale Uehling, for his work this year. Enjoy desserts and check out the innovative design of the Beckwith Boathouse, a floodable building home to the University of Iowa’s rowing team.
More information about these and other events is available in the July issue of Cityscape magazine.
Learn more about this event, including a list of workshops and speakers, then register online. The reduced registration rate ends soon, so register now.
See you in Coralville, September 22-24!

Annual Financial Report Workshop August 4 via ICN
The Iowa League of Cities and the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association are again co-sponsoring
a training to help cities prepare their Annual Financial Report (AFR). Offered at
15 sites around the state, the session will be held Wednesday, August 4, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Chapter 384.22 of the Code of Iowa requires cities to submit an AFR by December 1 for the previous fiscal year.
Significant penalties exist if not filed in a timely manner and a failure to submit will prevent a city from levying
property taxes and receiving any state funds. Register now for this free ICN session.
