Legislative Policy Commitee

Legislative Policy Commitee

What does the Legislative Policy Committee do?

Under its Constitution, the League must establish a Legislative Policy Committee that works to recommend a set of legislative and intergovernmental priorities to the Executive Board. Each year through a careful process, this Policy Committee devises a set of four to five legislative priorities. The Executive Board shall review the recommendations and will ultimately submit the recommendations, with or without amendment, to the membership for approval at the annual meeting. This set of issues, deemed the most imperative to Iowa’s cities, serves as a focal point for legislators and League members alike, throughout the session.

How can I become a member of the Legislative Policy Committee?

The League President must appoint at least 10 members to the Legislative Policy Committee each year. If you are interested in joining the Committee and would like to submit your name for consideration, please contact Megan Osweiler at meganosweiler@iowaleague.org.
