The League performs an annual survey of cities in Iowa to collect salary and fringe benefits information, to be utilized by cities during salary and union negotiations. The categories of benefits included are dental, disability, education, flexible benefits, health insurance, life insurance, mileage, paid time-off, supplemental benefits, uniforms and vision coverage. This enables a very wide view of the specific benefits available in the market for cities to remain competitive. Salary data is collected for over 80 positions, ranging from elected officials to appointed positions, contract and hourly employees.

When and how do I enter my data in the survey?

Data collection for the survey begins each year in early May, but continues throughout the year for those cities that finalize information later or wish to fill out the survey later.

How do I access the results?
